Introduction
Let me work through a scenario.
Imagine a product team with an agile coach guiding it. They were quickly moving towards their first release when they hit a snag with the product’s performance. The issue slowed them, and the planned release date was getting closer.
After a long and heated discussion, they agreed to bypass some of the code they had built and that the technical debt incurred was acceptable if they focused on two features ahead of the foundational work. After all, the customer would find those features more valuable.
Instinctively, you knew that probably wasn’t the right call, but in a coaching stance, it wasn’t for you to say “no”. After all, you’re just a coach, and the team knows best.
The team proceeded and quickly sped up. With the deadline for launch approaching, they were finally in their stride and successfully launched their product.
Roll on three months, and the product had great reviews and a growing number of users. Everyone was delighted with your coaching, and the world was good.
